昇龍 SHORYU

In addition to the supple texture created by a braided cord, the Shoryu has a three-dimensional texture that makes it extremely comfortable to hold. This makes it an unprecedented ballpoint pen expressing the braided cord's practicality.
The design evokes the feel of a braided cord, and the shape connects like a single line from the pen to the pen holder. Its rise from the bottom gives the desk a simple and modern look while creating a sense of dynamism, like a rising dragon.
Caps and pen holders are colored using traditional techniques that have long been used for Buddhist statues and tea utensils in Toyama Prefecture. The technology utilizes the corrosive nature of brass, controlling chemicals and flames to create vivid colors. Although the cap and pen holder look different from the braided cord on the grip, it has a sense of unity as a ballpoint pen.
組紐を代表する東京の老舗「龍工房」の自社製品の開発。昇龍は、組紐が生み出すしなやかな質感に加えて、その立体的なテクスチャーによって握り心地に優れており、組紐の実用性を表現した今までにないボールペン。デザインは組紐らしさを追求し、ペンからペン立てまで一つの線でつながった造形。下から伸び上がる様が、デスクの上をシンプルでモダンでありながら、まるで昇り龍のような躍動感も演出する。
ペン立て部分やキャップは富山県に長く伝わる仏像や茶道具に使われてきた伝統着色技術で加飾。真鍮が持つ腐食性を利用し、薬品や炎をコントロールし発色する技術は 鮮やかな色彩を生み出しており、グリップ部分の組紐とは違う表情ながらも、ボールペンとしての一体感を持っているデザインを心掛けた。
