MOBIRAKA SOFA
2022 / × 谷川木工芸 × SANUKI ReMIX
I collaborated with a craftsman, Kiyoshi Tanikawa, who made a traditional Japanese wooden bucket called Oke and created a sofa, lamp, and flower vase. Not to waste wood, they make the circle shape with the different widths of wood pieces and hide the joint line.
By making slits there on purpose, I emphasized the different widths and visualized that they never waste natural resources.
香川県で開催されたSANUKI ReMIX2で、谷川木工芸の桶職人、谷川清さんとコラボレーションしたMOBIRAKA Concept。本来は継ぎ目を見えないように作る桶側面に敢えて溝を入れ、「幅の異なる板材をつなぎ合わせて円形を作ることで、材料の木材をロス無く使いきる」という室町から続く「もったいない」精神の製法を見える化したデザイン。森に優しいソファー、ランプ、花器。
